Aina Technologies is a c-corporation committed to developing population scale, sustainble technology that catalyzes equitable social and criminal justice across gender, age, race, nationality and socio-economic status.
We provide communities and law enforcement with self auditing technology that detects potential profiling and violations of civil liberties while improving public safety and building cases against major crimes.
Student intern will work with system architect on a community intelligence and information sharing system to rescue victims from human trafficking and build cases against traffickers and enablers.
Beta test scheduled for Super Bowl LV to respond to heightened levels of human trafficking activities in several counties within Florida.
Human Trafficking Project Overview - Summer or Semester Timeframe
● Design, build and deliver a data collection and data mining system for collecting, storing, analyzing and presenting law enforcement tip information for identifying and tracking human traffickers.
o System shall employ a mobile app front end for use by law enforcement personnel as well as a traditional web front end with an Apache/Tomcat-based (portable) back-end.
o System shall store information in a centralized back end service-based architecture that facilitates data science analytics for extracting information about specific suspects.
o System shall be built using the Initiative for Open Authentication (OATH) reference architecture for strong authentication and OAuth standard for authorization to protect users, clients as well as all data collected.
o Data is location-based, time-sensitive and potentially evidentiary. o System Architecture must be scalable from a regional Proof of Concept to a capability that can be scaled to full national deployment.
o System shall be built to be compatible with multiple commercial cloud service providers such as Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure.
● Develop a Proof of Concept to demonstrate to real end-users the capabilities of the system to support their law enforcement efforts, using currently and widely available development tools to build the starting point to build out a full commercial deployment.
● Support integration of data science analytics for extracting law enforcement intelligence from the data store.
● Using AI/ML collect training data and developer first order queries by inferring pertinent information as described by law enforcement.
● All collected data stored in the DB must ensure client, privacy, accuracy and data integrity.
● Proof of Concept will include a live test phase with real end-users and authentic data.
Student Project Overview
● Working with System Architect, build one or more components of the whole system.
● Scope of project will be determined with system architect matching experiences and skills of the student developer.
● Work with the rest of the team to integrate their own subsystem into the whole.
● Present a post-project debrief of successes and failures of the test phase.
● Deliver all source code, testing data and any documentation developed during the project.
● Help produce needed usage information for components and help with the development of the entire system usage manuals.
Scope of Work
● Collaborate on a project schedule and budget
● Report progress periodically, including any changes made to plans and production
● Contribute to establishment of requirements and system design
● Deliver project phases on time, and on budget
● Work closely with other team members such as the overall project manager, data scientist and systems architect during all phases of the development lifecycle
● Ensure code produced meets agreed upon standards
● Can work remotely and independently
Applications Developer Requirements and Qualifications
● Student in computer science or related fields at an accredited institution. Undergraduate candidates should have completed courses in: Fundamental Algorithms & Data Structures and Introduction to Computer Languages. Then at least 3 of Operating Systems, Compilers, Database, Machine Learning, Parallel Systems, User Interfaces. Graduate candidates will be offered more challenging tasks, but should have completed a traditional computer or information science degree from an accredited institution.
● Must have demonstrated abilities with C/C++, Java or Go. Applicants must be comfortable developing software in a UNIX-style environment. Knowledge of Mobile OS, such as iOS or Android helpful. Knowledge of MacOS or Linux is useful. Knowledge/comfort in use of modern source control systems such as git is required.
● Ability to work in a high-pressure, geographically disparate, deadline-driven environment.
● Ability to work in a team, under direction from a lead designer. Collaborate directly with peers, including regular meetings, check points and maintaining exceptional communication and reporting skills.
● Demonstrable experience in relevant system design, application software development, mobile application development and back end data services development.
